about

Charlene Dodd Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor

Having qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2007 with a First Class Honours degree from the University of East Anglia, I have worked in a number of NHS roles over the past 18 years within the community and outpatients treating adults and children across Kent. This has included Intermediate Care, Community Paediatrics and most recently Haemophilia. Within these roles, I have developed extensive knowledge and expertise in the assessment and treatment of clients with a wide range of long-term and congenital conditions, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, as well as falls and older person rehabilitation.

During my time in Haemophilia, I completed my Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and qualified as a Pilates Instructor in 2021. Since then my enthusiasm for Pilates-based rehabilitation has continually developed. As well as using Pilates successfully with a multitude of clients and their conditions, I also secured a successful research grant to develop a Pilates-based intervention for young adults with Haemophilia in my previous NHS role. I have also enjoyed additional Pilates training with the APPI to further develop my skills and expertise in Osteoporosis, Hypermobility, Ante- and Post-Natal and Kids and Teens Pilates.

At the beginning of 2025, I established my home visiting Physio-Led Pilates business in Ashford, Kent and started my first Physio-Led Pilates class. The business was born out of my passion for Pilates-based exercise and rehabilitation to enable people of any age and any ability to move better, feel stronger, build confidence and be empowered to achieve the goals they want to achieve. I now run four classes a week at Singleton Village Hall. I also offer 1:1 Pilates sessions as home visits.
